03 / FILE SHARING & STARTUP EXPERIENCE

Shibozo.

From a useful idea
to a company and its users.

Shibozo was my startup for two years. I established a company and built a file-sharing product used by a few dozen people. It brought together client software, transfer infrastructure, and a public website around a simple task: getting files from one person to another.

THE IDEA

Make sharing files
feel straightforward.

PRODUCT / COMPANY / USERS

01 — THE PRODUCT

One task.
A complete experience.

The product joined the user-facing file-sharing experience with the infrastructure needed to connect clients and manage transfers.

▤

Desktop and portable clients

Windows applications for sending and receiving files, with transfer progress and notifications. Desktop integration included sending files from the system explorer.

◇

Mobile client work

A separate mobile codebase with file browsing, notifications, and transfer status models, alongside the desktop product.

↔

Transfer infrastructure

Client, hub, and remoting code supported communication and file-transfer workflows. Cryptographic components covered encryption and key exchange.

◎

A product beyond the client

A public website, account and plan pages, management tooling, and client update code formed part of the broader product.

02 — THE TOOLKIT

Clients and services.
Built together.

C# / .NET

Client applications, shared contracts, transfer services, and supporting tools.

Windows and mobile

Dedicated desktop, portable, and mobile projects with platform-specific responsibilities.

ASP.NET and SQL

Public website and management projects, with relational persistence code and SQL assets.

Communication and cryptography

Explicit client/server contracts, remoting, encryption, and key-exchange components.

03 — FOUNDER EXPERIENCE

Build the software.
Own the product.

01

Two years of product ownership

Shibozo was an established company and a product with users. My work connected engineering decisions to the experience people had when sharing files.

02

Think beyond a single application

The client experience depended on the transfer infrastructure, website, and update tooling. Building those pieces together meant considering the whole product.
